Vaccines: which one will be the good one?

According to experts, the Sars-CoV-2 vaccine will be ready by the end of this year or in early 2021, if all goes well. Pomezia, Rome: the Italian Advent-IRBM announced that clinical trial will start at the end of April in the UK, and that some categories of people could be vaccinated already in September. IRBM is collaborating with the Jenner Institute of Oxford University in order to manufacture and test a new coronavirus vaccine. But how does it work? Piero DiLorenzo, President and CEO of IRBM, answers: “We have used an attenuated adenovirus (the common cold virus), to carry the synthesized Spike gene of Sars-CoV-2 into the human body. Just like a Trojan horse, the carrier adenovirus enters the body, that reacts by producing antibodies.”
